OPM provides a website to provide applicants with information about the electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIP) system. Applicants will find a Quick Reference Guide and Brochure and answers to Frequently Asked Questions.
Applicants will not be able to access the actual e-QIP system until the employing or sponsoring Federal agency asked them to complete an investigation questionnaire. Individuals cannot pre-apply for a security clearance nor update their security questionnaire unless they are asked to do so by an appropriate agency official.
The website also provides information for Federal agency users. Agencies are encouraged to contact OPM-FIS if they have questions about e-QIP. Additional information about e-QIP is available for the agency users on the OPMIS Portal.
