NLM Grantee Develops "HealthMap," to Map and Track H1N1 Flu Cases Nationwide

Dr. John Brownstein, the principal investigator on a National Library of Medicine grant, has collaborated with the Web Communications Division at the US Department of Health and Human Services to implement HealthMap, a mapping and tracking resource, at http://www.flu.gov. This timely, easy-to-use resource permits tracking of H1N1 and seasonal flu activity by state and territory, back to November 2008. The direct link to HealthMap at FLU.GOV is: http://www.flu.gov/whereyoulive/healthmap/.

Dr. Brownstein is an assistant professor at Children's Hospital Boston/Harvard Medical School. His grant, 1G08LM009776-01A2, is a G08 or Applied Informatics Grant. These grants are offered to help organizations use information technology to optimize the utility of clinical and research information.
