Library of Spanish-language Resources

Hispanics, who account for 15 percent of the U.S. population, are more likely than whites to experience poor health outcomes. For example, Hispanics have significantly higher rates of hospital admissions for short-term complications due to diabetes. For many Hispanics, seeking treatment means using a new language to navigate a complex health care system.1

AHRQ now offers a growing library of publications in Spanish that compare treatments for heart and vascular system conditions, diabetes, cancer, bone and joint-related conditions, pregnancy, mental health, and digestive system ailments. The Spanish-language publications provide opportunities for Hispanics to easily compare treatments with their health care providers for many common conditions:

To spread the availability of the materials and engage Hispanics, AHRQ has also launched a Spanish-language Facebook Page, www.facebook.com/AHRQehc.espanol where you can stay informed of AHRQ EHC Program's news, resources, and organizations can sign our online pledge of commitment to promote AHRQ's Spanish-language, evidence-based resources.
