A summary of requests to the Center for Financing, Access, and Cost Trends (CFACT) for information to inform health initiatives, and of the assistance provided from March 2012 through July 2012.

CBO Estimates on the effects of the ACA on the number of people obtaining employment-based health insurance 3/12 Ed Miller, Bill Carroll, and Marc Roemer The CBO's HISim model plays an important role in developing assumptions about employer behavior and how they respond to the incentives in the ACA in deciding whether to offer coverage to their employees. Two MEPS Statistical Briefs are visibly utilized in completing the analysis: Statistical Brief #317 by Ed Miller and Bill Carroll, on Full-Time Workers; and Statistical Brief #344 by Marc Roemer, on Health Insurance Plan Offer Rates. CBO Data on emergency room expenses for persons on Medicaid 3/12 Steve Machlin Provided assistance to Kirsten Eisen of CBO in interpreting the estimates from the MEPS tables on emergency room expenses for person on Medicaid.
CBO Estimates for average ambulatory care visits, 1997-2007 6/12 Joel Cohen Provided data from the MEPS to Melinda Buntin of CBO, on average ambulatory care visits from 1997 through 2007.
CBO Data on prescription drug costs 6/12 Steve Hill and Marie Stagnitti Provided statistics from the MEPS to Melinda Buntin of CBO, on prescription drug costs.
CBO Trends on employer contributions for private health insurance, 1996-2010 6/12 Karen Davis Provided data from the MEPS to Frank Russek of CBO, to analyze trends on employer contributions for private health insurance from 1996 through 2010.
CBO Effects of insurance expansions in the ACA on people with mental disorders 6/12 Sam Zuvekas Provided data from the MEPS to Jessica Banthin of CBO, on the effects of insurance expansions in the ACA on people with mental disorders.
Office of U.S. Congressman William Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) Expenditure estimates for individuals with chronic conditions 7/12 Anita Soni Provided consultation to Congressman William Cassidy's office, on expenditure estimates from the MEPS for individuals with chronic conditions.
CBO Estimates of within-year income volatility affecting Medicaid eligibility and eligibility for subsidies to obtain health insurance through the Exchanges 7/12 Tom Selden Provided data from the MEPS to CBO, to address issues related to estimates of within-year income volatility. Income volatility affects Medicaid eligibility and eligibility for subsidies to acquire health insurance coverage through the Exchanges.
