General Information on Diaper Banks

Diapers banks are a relatively new resource for those who cannot afford to purchase needed absorbent products due to financial difficulties. Some diapers banks are focused on the needs of a newborn or small child, but many include adult incontinence products.

Diaper banks distribute their resources through local agencies such as nonprofit organizations like United Way, religious organizations (churches and synagogues), and school family resource centers. They are not distributed directly to individuals. Individuals who need assistance must contact local agencies who will get the needed supplies via their local diaper bank.

How to Start a Diaper Bank

Many communities are responding to the great need to get absorbent incontinence products to those who are unable to afford them, and so the number of these banks is growing. If you are interested in starting one in your locale, many of the diaper banks give ideas on how to start a diaper drive in your community. The Diaper Bank of New Haven, CT, while at this time only serving the needs of infants and toddlers, has good advice for how to start a diaper bank. You may wish to contact other diaper banks in the US and ask them how you might expand your new diaper bank to include adult products.

How to Have a Successful Diaper Drive

There are many good ideas on the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona website for doing diaper drives in your community:

Diaper Drives

Many of the other diaper banks in the US also have information on diaper drives and how to conduct them/ You can see their ideas on their websites. See the listing below for links to the many websites.

If you have diapers or absorbent products that you will not be needing, please contact your nearest diaper banks to donate your products to them as part of their diaper drives.
