This publication is a product of the National Diabetes Education Program and is written for people newly diagnosed with diabetes as well as for those living with diabetes for years. The four steps help them understand, monitor, and manage their diabetes. Presented in a simple format, 4 Steps empowers people with diabetes to be active partners in their own care and to take steps to stay healthy.

The National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP) offers publications and campaigns for different target audiences including consumers, health care professionals, organizations, and school personnel. They offer materials in several different languages. The National Diabetes Education Program is a federally funded program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health.
