Dempsey Visits Air Force Academy
Army Gen. Martin E. Dempsey speaks to cadets at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., Oct. 5, 2012. In addition to addressing the cadets, Dempsey also watched a footbal game against the U.S. Naval Academy and served as the keynote speaker for an organization that supports samilies of deployed service members.

Panetta Meets With Defense Leaders in Peru
U.S. Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta arrives in Lima, Peru, Oct. 5, 2012. Panetta is on a four-day trip to the region, visiting counterparts in Peru and Uruguay. Upon departing South America, he will go to Brussels, Belgium, where he will attend a meeting of NATO officials.

U.S., French Troops Conduct Mass Casualty Training in Djibouti
A U.S. Marine Corps CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter lands at the simulated accident site during Mass Casualty Exercise 12-1 in Grand Bara Desert, Djibouti, Sept. 25, 2012. The exercise followed a fictitious storyline, but employed real-world assets. While U.S. and French forces frequently conduct combined training events, this was the first exercise of this type between the two nations in Djibouti.
