The President’s Council engages, educates, and empowers all Americans to adopt a healthy lifestyle that includes regular physical activity and good nutrition. The President’s Council is made up of athletes, chefs, physicians, fitness professionals, and educators who are appointed by the President and serve in an advisory capacity through the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Through partnerships with the public, private, and non-profit sectors, the Council promotes programs and initiatives that motivate people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to lead active, healthy lives.

The Science Board, made up of scholars who have made significant contributions to the research and science of physical activity, sports, and nutrition, was formed in 2003 to ensure that the messages and programs of the Council are scientifically sound.
