The Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation (FLETA) Board is pleased to announce it granted initial accreditation status to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) Special Agent Advanced Training Program (SAATP) at the July 12, 2012 meeting in Glynco, Georgia. Assistant Inspector General for Investigations Michael Delgado accepted the certificate of accreditation, thanking the TIGTA team and noting accreditation gives the training ultimate credibility. “It makes sure our training remains relevant in the future”, he commented.

The SAATP provides TIGTA Special Agents advanced training in TIGTA-specific investigations, including computer crimes and other specialty areas. TIGTA Special Agents attend the training every three to five years to remain current on advanced techniques and evolving criminal methodologies.

To achieve accreditation, agencies submit to an independent review of their academy and/or program to ensure compliance with the FLETA Standards and Procedures in the areas of: Program Administration, Training Staff, Training Development, and Training Delivery, with an additional 20 standards for Academies. Accreditation is a cyclical process occurring every three years. Each year, agencies must submit annual reports in preparation for reaccreditation, which is a new and independent review of the academy/program.
