How Much is My Standard Deduction?

How Much is My Standard Deduction: The Standard Deduction is a dollar amount that reduces the amount of income on which you are taxed. Your Standard Deduction may consist of the basic standard deduction and additional standard deduction amounts for age and blindness. The additional standard deduction amount may also include a federally declared disaster area casualty loss and sales tax paid on new vehicles purchased in 2009.

Information You Will Need:

  • Your age, your spouse's age, filing status and citizenship status
  • Basic income information including amounts and adjusted gross income
  • An estimated total (if applicable) for expenses such as real estate taxes you paid, sales tax you paid on a new vehicle (purchased in 2009 only) and casualty losses you sustained from a federally declared disaster area.

Estimated Completion Time: 5 minutes. However: 5 minutes of inactivity will end the interview and you will be forced to start over.
