Federal Government

Child Welfare Information Gateway
Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families, the Gateway provides information about resources, training, and technical assistance to strengthen families. Topical pages address preventing and responding to child abuse, family-centered practice, adoption, and out-of-home care.

Division of Violence Prevention
A division of the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, DVP works to prevent injuries and deaths caused by violence, including child abuse and maltreatment.

Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention
Serves children, families, and communities by sponsoring cooperative efforts to prevent delinquency, strengthen the juvenile justice system, protect children, and enhance public safety. Topical pages address several aspects of child and family violence.

Office for Victims of Crime
Enhances the Nation's capacity to assist crime victims and provides leadership in changing attitudes, policies, and practices to promote justice and healing for all crime victims. A federally funded resource offering justice and substance abuse information. Spotlight on Family Violence provides information about legislation, grants, publications, and training and technical assistance related to all forms of family violence, including child physical and sexual abuse, child neglect and maltreatment, intimate partner violence, and elder abuse.

National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Sexual Exploitation of Children Page
Provides information about the laws and issues surrounding the sexual exploitation of children, with many links to laws, resources, and publications.

Nurse-Family PartnershipAn evidence-based home visitation program that sends registered nurses to the homes of low-income, first-time parents from pregnancy through the child's second birthday.

World Health Organization, Child Injuries and Violence Page
Provides information about WHO's child maltreatment prevention activities, publications, and international and regional child safety organizations.
