DEBUT Contest Winners Announced
The winners of the Design by Biomedical Undergraduate Teams (DEBUT) Contest
were announced this week. One of the winners, pictured here, designed a new handheld
device called “QuickStitch.” It replaces the current, imprecise, means
of suturing with a method that is simpler, safer, and quicker.

NIBIB Grantee Among PECASE Recipients
Dr. Biju Parekkadan received the Presidential Early Career Award for
Scientists and Engineers. PECASE is the highest honor for science and engineering
professionals in the early stages of research careers given by the U.S. Government.
