Outlook Newsletter

Outlook is the electronic newsletter of the National Eye Health Education Program (NEHEP). Outlook provides quarterly updates on eye health education, disease prevention activities, and NEHEP activities and materials.

	Letter From the Chair of the NEHEP Planning Committee Health professionals need to use their unique opportunities to enhance public awareness about eye health and advance the shared goals of reducing health disparities and educating people on the need for eye exams.
	New Focus Group Data Available From NEHEP Focus group data about target audiences’ knowledge of eye diseases, needs for eye health education, and the best communication methods for disseminating eye health information are now available from NEHEP.
	NEHEP Training Brings Diabetic Eye Disease Messages Closer to Communities NEHEP has started a new initiative to train community health workers to deliver educational sessions using its Diabetes and Healthy Eyes Toolkit.
	NEI Offers New Knowledgebase The National Eye Institute (NEI) launched an online knowledgebase, NEI Frequently Asked Questions, to provide easy access to information on vision research, eye health, and eye diseases and conditions.
	The American Foundation for the Blind Unveils Enhanced Website Redesign The American Foundation for the Blind launched a redesign of its website, offering a more interactive, engaging experience, and making it easier for visitors to locate information on the topics that interest them.
	PBA Diabetic Eye Disease Educator Program Available Online Prevent Blindness America’s (PBA) Diabetic Eye Disease Educator Program is now available online.
	National Institutes of Health SeniorHealth.gov Gets New Design The National Institute of Aging and the National Library of Medicine have redesigned the NIHSeniorHealth web page to feature more menu choices, longer pages, and a new search feature.
	American Academy of Ophthalmology Promotes Sun Safety for Eyes The American Academy of Ophthalmology is providing the public with tips to keep their eyes safe through its EyeSmart^® UV Safety campaign.
	HVCA Spotlight: Blue Ridge Medical Center Blue Ridge Medical Center established the Rural Health Outreach Program Wellness Passport Program to provide health services, coaching, and assistance to people who are at 200 percent below the poverty level and do not have health insurance.
	On the Road With NEHEP Join NEHEP staff for presentations on educational efforts that support eye health for people at higher risk of eye disease.
