NRD APIs

The National Resource Directory (NRD) provides several APIs, or Application Programming Interface (below), which allow developers to extract NRD information for use on other websites and applications.  By using our APIs, partner sites can usually avoid the costs associated with developing and maintaining their own directory of resources.  All information is maintained by the NRD Content Team, and will automatically update through the feed.

NRD Resources

Resource information contained within the NRD is from federal, state and local government agencies; Veterans service and benefit organizations; non-profit and community-based organizations; academic institutions and professional associations that provide assistance to wounded warriors and their families.

NRD resources provide access to information and services at the national, state and local levels that support recovery, rehabilitation and community reintegration. Visitors can find information on a variety of topics including benefits & compensationeducation & trainingemploymentfamily & caregiver supporthealthhomeless assistancehousingtransportation & travelvolunteer opportunities and other services & resources.

The NRD Resources Feed provides identifying information on each resource, including:

  • Title
  • Link
  • Description of resource (content)
  • Groups which may be interested in this resource (Family Member/Caregiver,  Service Member, Service Provider, Veterans)
  • Geographic service locations (for the less than 10% of resources that provide a service at a specific location)
  • Subject areas addressed by the resource (Employment, Health, etc)

MOS/MOC Equivalents

The Veteran Job Bank provides civilian job equivalents for 7,000 Military Occupational Specialities or Codes (MOS/MOCs).  These codes are compiled from a variety of sources, including the Army and Navy COOL sites, and O*NET.  NRD provides a static MOS/MOC Equivalents feed of these codes and the equivalents which we expect to update several times a year.

Veterans Job Search

The NRD provides a Veterans Job Bank Search API that takes queries and provide job results, 10 at a time.  The NRD powers the Veterans Job Bank which is driven by a new open Web standard, the JobPosting schema, designed by a voluntary network of job search and technology companies and supported by schema.org.  A Google custom search engine pulls tagged jobs based on search criteria.

This site adheres to Section 508 and WCAG1 AA.
