Demonstrating the Platform for Policing Research: About the Sites

Demonstration Site Map and Data Table
Larger image and details on each site Exit Notice.

Small, medium and large agencies from urban and rural areas of the nation are involved.

Demonstration sites as of the end of 2009 include Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles and Hillsborough County, Fla., the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training (a nationally accredited statewide training academy) and 20 agencies representing small to medium-sized jurisdictions, sheriff's agencies and American Indian law enforcement agencies.

Sites are participating at different levels depending on the intensity and extent of data collection. A small number of sites are collecting the most extensive in-depth data. At this time, these sites include Boston, Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles. Other sites are testing particular components of measurement (e.g., citizen surveys in River Forest, Ill.).

Most of the sites are participating in broad rather than in-depth data collection and will be involved in organizational surveys of employees.

Agencies participating in the national police research platform represent departments of different sizes, types and regions of the country.
