* Census Surveys and Statistics

The Census Bureau conducts hundreds of surveys every year. The surveys conducted include:

  • Decennial Census - This survey is the most well-known and occurs nationwide every 10 years. The population count from this survey helps determine congressional apportionment (how to divide the seats of the U.S. House of Representatives among the 50 states).
  • Demographic Surveys - These surveys provide statistics about the U.S. population, such as where we live, the things we buy, and how we spend our time.
  • Economic Surveys - These surveys provide statistics about U.S. businesses and governments.
