Site Statistics

EPA provides Web server statistics for TSSMS accounts and Application Environments. These statistics can tell you how your site or application was accessed, what browsers were used, and what pages were requested, and can be used to gauge customer needs and respond to them accordingly. See below for a listing of the types of server statistics that are available.

The EPA also provides a "404 error report". This report lists requests to your site that resulted in a "not found" error on the user's browser. The report also lists the "referring" page that led to the error. With this information, you can determine if the resolution to the problem lies with you, or with the referring web page.

Finding Your Account's Statistics

TSSMS accounts

To find server statistics about the site(s) within your TSSMS account, follow these steps:

  1. For intranet sites, go to http://intranet.epa.gov/reports/objects/. Entering Intranet
For public access sites, go to http://www.epa.gov/reports/objects/.

  2. Locate your TSSMS Directory and click on the link to it. Not all TSSMS are listed on the page, but all TSSMS' statistics are available at /reports/objects/TSSMS.

Statistics are listed by month/year. The "404_error_report" will have its own link from this page, called "Web Statistics for 404 error reports." Click this link to view the error reports.

Dynamic Application Environments (Domino, Oracle, ColdFusion, Mapserver, etc.)

  1. For intranet sites, go to http://intranet.epa.gov/reports/environment/.
For public access sites, go to http://www.epa.gov/reports/environment/.

  2. Environment refers to the Application Environment supporting your site or application. Application environments include domino, mapserver, coldfusion, and oracle. For example, ColdFusion statistics on the public server would be available at http://www.epa.gov/reports/coldfusion.

Statistics are listed by month/year.

Web Management Tool (WebMan) Statistics

WebMan is a tool designed for Web managers. It can assist you in understanding which Agency staff have access to your Internet Web accounts (residing on the "Buckeye," or epapub.epa.gov, server); the types, numbers, ages of public access files, the disk storage, and usage information associated with your accounts. WebMan allows you to search by AA-Ship, Office, Division, TSSMS account, or URL.

Downloading Raw Log Files

You can also download via FTP Entering Intranet raw log files for processing by other means. Log files remain on the server for only 45 days. If you are in need of any log files older than 45 days, then you will need to contact the EPA Call Center Entering Intranet to have them restored (though make sure that you have sufficient disk space within your TSSMS area to hold these files). Also, logs older than 33 days old are likely to be zipped and will need to be uncompressed once they are downloaded.
