Each Air Guard mission offers rewarding opportunities and cutting edge training to gain the real-world, high-tech experience that employers are looking for. Below, you can explore the different areas where the Air Guard is currently seeking individuals to join our team of dedicated professionals.

EXPLORE MISSIONS

Air Support Operations
During exercises, contingencies, or actual war, the Air Support Operations mission is to provide meteorological support and deploy with, advise, and assist the ground force commander in planning, requesting, coordinating and controlling close air support, tactical air reconnaissance, and tactical airlift.
Command and Control
During exercises, contingencies, or actual war, the Command and Control mission is to provide meteorological support and deploy with, advise, and assist the ground force commander in planning, requesting, coordinating and controlling close air support, tactical air reconnaissance, and tactical airlift.
Tactical Air Control Party
The mission of the Tactical Air Control Party is to provide numerous critical functions on the modern battlefield including, advising ground forces on aircraft employment and capabilities, coordinating and controlling aerospace operations, and participating in battle planning.
Test Squadron
The Test Squadron mission is to perform operational and developmental testing and evaluation of new and emerging Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance technologies. Aircraft Control and Warning Squadrons serve in Test Squadron missions such as air battle management, refueling, early warning and homeland defense as well as protection of the President of the United States and counter drug operations.
FIGHTER
"The F-16 Fighting Falcon, the F-15 Eagle, the A-10 Thunderbolt, and the F-22 Raptor are the aircraft you will be flying, servicing and maintaining in a Fighter mission. These aircraft utilize the world's most advanced flight technology and each has unique features make them the most versatile, maneuverable, high-performance tactifical fighters on earth."
B-2 SPIRIT
The B-2 Spirit is a multi-role bomber capable of delivering both conventional and nuclear munitions. A dramatic leap forward in technology, the bomber represents a major milestone in the U.S. bomber modernization program. The B-2 mission is to bring massive firepower to bear, in a short time, anywhere on the globe through previously impenetrable defenses.
HH-60 PAVE HAWK
The primary mission of the HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter is to conduct day or night personnel recovery operations into hostile environments to recover isolated personnel during war. The HH-60G is also tasked to perform military operations other than war, including civil search and rescue, medical evacuation, disaster response, humanitarian assistance, security cooperation/aviation advisory, NASA space flight support, and rescue command and control.
AIR LIFT/TRANSPORT
"As a part of an Air Life/Transport mission, you'll be flying, maintaining and supporting the C-17 Globemaster III, the C-21 A, the C-5 Galaxy, and the C-130 Hercules. These aircraft are known for their strength and versatility, performing operations such as cargo transportation, aeromedical missions, weather reconnaissance, and tactical airlift and airdrop missions."
E-8
The E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System, or Joint STARS, is an airborne battle management, command and control, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance platform. Its primary mission is to provide theater ground and air commanders with ground surveillance to support attack operations and targeting that contributes to the delay, disruption and destruction of enemy forces.
KC-135 STRATOTANKER
The KC-135 Stratotanker mission is to provide the core aerial refueling capability for the United States Air Force and the Air Guard. This unique aircraft enhances the Air Force's capability to accomplish its primary missions of Global Reach and Global Power. It also provides aerial refueling support to Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps and allied nation aircraft. The KC-135 is capable of transporting litter and ambulatory patients using patient support pallets during aeromedical evacuations.
Predator
The Predator's primary missions are close air support, air interdiction, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR. It acts as a Joint Forces Air Component Commander-owned theater asset for reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition in support of the Joint Forces Commander.
Reaper
The Reaper's primary missions are close air support, air interdiction, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR. It acts as a Joint Forces Air Component Commander-owned theater asset for reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition in support of the Joint Forces Commander.
Surveillance
Surveillance involves monitoring enemy behavior and communications in order to gather information about enemy force plans, strategies and resources. Tracking and reporting the movements of enemy troops, capturing and decoding enemy communications.
Band
Air Guard bands support the global mission in war and peace by preserving our national heritage, providing professional musical products and services for the official military, and performing at recruiting and community relations events. Each band operates within its own geographic area of responsibility representing America's Airmen to their community. They also provide an essential element in maintaining troop morale, retention and recruiting efforts.
Civil Engineering
The Civil Engineering mission is to build and maintain the buildings and utilities that make up the Air Force and Air Guard's infrastructure. Specializations include architectural, electrical and mechanical and environmental engineering and encompass the duties of programming, budgeting, project management, drafting, surveying, planning, feasibility studies, construction management and utilities operations.
Combat Communications
The primary mission of the Air Guard Combat Communication is to deploy, operate, and maintain strategic dispersal of emergency communications anywhere in the world. The primary peacetime function is the provision of emergency communications and other needed assistance during state-declared emergencies.
Engineering Installation
The Engineering Installation mission is to provide for the engineering and installation of ground communication-electronics systems. This includes removal and relocation of old or outdated ground communication-electronics systems, and to provide for emergency and programmed, mobile, on-site, maintenance and modification of these systems.
Fire Fighting
The Fire Fighting mission is to prevent the loss of life and property from fire. Fire Fighting units are trained to fight building, aircraft, hazardous materials, wild land (grass, brush, forests, etc.) and miscellaneous fires (cars, dumpsters, etc.). They are also trained in alarm center operations, preventive and operator maintenance on firefighting apparatus and equipment, and the principles of fire inspections and investigations.
Rescue
The primary mission of a Rescue unit is personnel recovery with emergency medical capabilities in humanitarian and combat environments. They deploy in any available manner, to include air-land-sea tactics, into restricted environments to authenticate, extract, treat, stabilize and evacuate injured personnel, while acting in an enemy-evading, recovery role. Rescue units perform search and rescue, combat search and rescue, recovery support for NASA and conduct other operations as appropriate.
Security Forces
The Security Forces mission is to lead, manage, supervise, and perform security force activities, including installation, weapon system, and resource security, antiterrorism, law enforcement and investigations, military working dog function, air base defense, armament and equipment, training, pass and registration, information security, and combat arms.
Space
The Air Guard’s Space mission involves work with a variety of satellites and systems to provide individuals in the field with real-time space situational awareness. This will involve working on a variety of missions, including: • Missile warning and defense • Space surveillance and satellite operations • Theater integration and tactics development • Intelligence preparation of the battlespace
Combat Control
The mission of a combat controller is to deploy undetected into combat and hostile environments to establish assault zones or airfields, while simultaneously conducting air traffic control, fire support, command and control, direct action, counter-terrorism, foreign internal defense, humanitarian assistance and special reconnaissance in the joint arena. Combat Controllers are Battlefield Airmen assigned to special tactics squadrons. They are trained special operations forces and certified Federal Aviation Administration air traffic controllers.
