Site Managers: Evaluate Your Event

Help NPLD improve for 2013! Site managers can fill out the online evaluation form and share stories from their events.

The 12th annual NPLD Volunteers in Action Photo Contest invites you to share photos of volunteers participating in a National Public Lands Day project. We want to see what you accomplished on National Public Lands Day! More than 2,000 volunteer projects are planned for NPLD, such as tree planting, trail maintance and historic site restoration. So break out those cameras during NPLD and show us what you and your fellow volunteers did to enhance our nation's treasured public lands.

For the fourth year in a row, President Barack Obama has issued a Presidential Proclamation declaring the nationwide recognition of National Public Lands Day. In addition, thirty-four governors and 69 cities and counties have produced their own proclamations or letters of support encouraging participation in the annual day of service.

The Weather Channel interviewed Robb Hampton, Director, Public Lands Program, at the network's Atlanta studio. Robb discussed how National Public Lands Day was started and how the combined impact of volunteers benefits parks and the environment.
