The Office of Child Care (OCC) supports low-income working families by providing access to affordable, high-quality early care and afterschool programs. OCC administers the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) and works with state, territory and tribal governments to provide support for children and their families juggling work schedules and struggling to find child care programs that will fit their needs and that will prepare children to succeed in school.
Leadership
Shannon Rudisill is Director of the Office of Child Care (OCC, formerly the Child Care Bureau [CCB]), where she has focused on raising the bar on quality in child care across the country, particularly for low-income children.
History
The Office of Child Care was established in September 2010 and replaces the former Child Care Bureau. We partner with states, territories, and tribes to administer the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) program.
The Office of Child Care works closely and collaboratively with agencies across the government to develop and promote programs for children.
