Title of Program Announcement: National Resource Center for Adoption
Purpose: To establish a National Resource Center for Adoption (NRCA) that will serve as a member of the Children's Bureau's Training and Technical Assistance Network and will work with States, Tribes, and agencies to increase their capacity in adoption and improve the effectiveness and quality of adoption and post adoption services provided to children, youth, and their families. In 2005, the NRCA established a Minority Adoption Leadership Development Institute (MALDI) for the purpose of enhancing the leadership skills of 20 minority adoption leaders from across the country. MALDI is based on the premise that the presence of minority leaders in child welfare adoption services may help to bridge the gap between communities of color and the child welfare system.
