Volunteer

The American Heart Association needs the time and talent of volunteers to help us create a healthier world, free of heart disease and stroke. Whatever your capabilities and interests are, we can find a volunteer opportunity that's right for you. The opportunities listed below offer flexible and convenient ways to volunteer. To volunteer in your community, fill out and submit the volunteer form and we will contact you with additional information.

  • Improving My Family's Health

    We make it easier for all families to live, eat and stay healthy by educating, encouraging behavior change and generating much-needed financial support.

    • Go Red For Women™

      The American Heart Association's national movement, created by women, for women, dedicated to exposing the truth about women and heart disease: heart disease can kill you or a woman you love.

    • Power to End Stroke

      An education and awareness campaign that embraces and celebrates the culture, energy, creativity and lifestyles of African Americans. It unites people to help make an impact on the high incidence of stroke within their communities.

    • Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart

      Jump Rope For Heart/Hoops are school based, healthy heart educational events that support AHA's mission. Contact your local school to encourage them to participate and/or to volunteer the day of the event.

    • You're the Cure Advocate

      Add your voice to the millions of You're the Cure Advocates across the nation who are fighting for heart and stroke health by contacting and encouraging their elected officials to enact healthy legislation.

  • Delivering Support to Patients and their Families

    Our Volunteers provide emotional support and encouragement to heart disease and stroke patients and their families when they need it most, while also raising funds to enable these efforts.

    • Stroke Support

      Stroke survivors, caregivers, professionals, and families in the community offer stroke support, event planning, education, and fundraising. Learn how you can become a local stroke volunteer to help improve stroke outcomes and educate others about stroke.

    • Go Red for Women™ Heart Match Online Patient Mentor

      Free online program that offers women the opportunity to give or receive support while they survive a heart disease diagnosis or care for a loved one with heart disease.

  • Making My Community Healthy

    We create healthier environments in schools, workplaces and other public places by improving policies and systems, and by raising funds.

    • Heart Walk

      A complete heart-healthy, walking experience to build community, generate passion and raise funds to support the AHA's mission.

    • My Heart. My Life.

      A comprehensive new health, wellness and fitness platform to empower Americans to get healthier by promoting physical activity and healthy eating.

    • CPR

      Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation can double, or even triple a sudden cardiac arrest victim 's chance of survival. Volunteers can make an impact in their communities by requiring CPR for graduation and implementing school based medical emergency response plans.

    • You're the Cure Advocate

      Add your voice to the millions of You're the Cure Advocates across the nation who are fighting for heart and stroke health by contacting and encouraging their elected officials to enact healthy legislation.

    • American Heart Association Walking Club

      Start a walking club and help spread the word in your community about the benefits of walking.

  • Helping End Heart Disease and Stroke in Our Lifetime

    We save countless lives by supporting heart and stroke research.

    • Heart Ball

      A social event that raises funds to support our mission to create a better future for our children, families and communities.

    • You're the Cure Advocate

  • Ensuring Quality Healthcare for All

    We help improve the healthcare system to ensure the best care for all patients. We coordinate, support and advocate for programs that improve patient access.

    • Get With the Guidelines

      Program to help hospitals and physician practices treat heart disease and stroke patients according to proven guidelines.

    • Mission Lifeline

      National initiative to improve quality of care and outcomes in heart attack patients by improving the health care system readiness and response.

    • You're the Cure Advocate
