BenefitsCheckUp Session to Focus on Latest Features of the Site

Washington, DC – April 13, 2011 – More than 13 million older Americans are struggling financially and are not connected to programs that could help them find work, access benefits, or get the support they need to make ends meet. BenefitsCheckUp® helps older Americans find and enroll in federal, state, local, and private programs that help pay for prescription drugs, utility bills, meals, health care, and other needs.

Join the team of experts behind BenefitsCheckUp® at the 2011 Aging in America conference, April 26-30, in San Francisco to see how public policy, user feedback, and advances in technology shaped the latest version of the site. Government agencies, community-based organizations, and health care providers will find value in the enhancements to the site. Stop by Exhibit Booth #501 and meet the BenefitsCheckUp staff.

With the help of BenefitsCheckUp, a free and confidential online service that enables seniors and their family members or caregivers to determine what benefits they qualify for and how to apply for them, older Americans can find out if they qualify for nutrition assistance programs to help put food on the table.

NCOA will be one of the featured affiliate organizations at Aging in America, the nation’s largest gathering of professionals from the fields of aging, health care, economic security, and senior education. Full details on the conference can be found at www.NCOA.org/AginginAmerica2011.

Attend the BenefitsCheckUp® presentation at the Aging in America Conference on Wednesday, April 27th, 2011 at 8:00a.m. at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square in the Sutter room. The presentation will showcase:

  • How agencies use BenefitsCheckUp® to expand the reach to take a client from screening to enrollment in benefit programs.
  • The newest features available on the BenefitsCheckUp® website.
  • Live demonstrations displaying products developed to enhance the screening, enrollment and data collection process.

“With everything going on in the economy, it helps to have a resource like BenefitsCheckUp® to serve as a guide for programs that may yield additional savings,” said Marlene Schneider, NCOA’s Vice President of Decision Support Services. “Our session is designed to educate users of the services provided by the website that will help older adults to live healthier lives.”
