E-Notification:  If you are filing your Form N-600 at one of the USCIS Lockbox facilities, you may elect to receive an email and/or text message notifying you that your application has been accepted. You must complete Form G-1145, E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance, and clip it to the first page of your application in order to receive the notification. Filing Fee :
$600 ($550 if filing for an adopted child, see form instructions for more. Members of the U.S. Armed Forces and veterans should also review form instructions, as fees may not apply.)

When Completing Form N-600: Avoid These Mistakes to Prevent Rejection

Part 2, Information About Your Eligibility:

  • Check only ONE box in Part 2. If you check multiple boxes in Part 2, USCIS will reject your Form N-600 and return it to you for correction and re-filing.   

Part 7, Signature

  • Part 7 must be signed. If there is no signature, USCIS will reject your form N-600 and return it to you for correction and re-filing. If you are a parent completing Form N-600 on behalf of your child who is under 14 years of age, then you can sign in Part 7.
  • Third party representatives who complete Form N-600 for an applicant are required to sign the designated section in Part 8, “Signature of person preparing this form, if different than above.”

Notes on Filing Fees: 

  • Checks should be made payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security. 
  • Adopted Children: The fee for Form N-600 is $600, except for U.S. citizen parents requesting a Certificate of Citizenship for an adopted child. For U.S. citizen parents filing on behalf of an adopted minor child under Section 320 of the INA, the fee is $550.
  • U.S. Armed Forces and Veterans: There is no filing fee for Form N-600 if you are a member or veteran of any branch of the United States Armed Forces filing on your own behalf. You must attach proof of service. Children of members or veterans of the Armed Forces ARE required to pay the filing fee for Form N-600.  
  • Filing with Form N-400: If you are filing Form N-400 and From N-600 at the same time at a lockbox facility, USCIS encourages you to file them separately. However, customers who file Form N-400 and Form N-600 together in one package must submit separate payments for each application, or we will return the applications and fee, for correction and re-filing.

Attorney or representative: You may be represented, at no expense to the U.S. Government, by an attorney or other duly authorized representative.  Your representative must submit Form G-28, Notice of Entry or Appearance as Attorney or Representative, with your Form N-600.  Your representative may also submit Form G-28 at the time of your interview.
