Army

Army Casualty Website  This website provides casualty assistance resources for commanders and family members.  It has a thorough list of publications, public laws, forms, benefits, terms, and acronyms.  It also has a link to a comprehensive, user-friendly survivor's guide.

Army Emergency Relief (AER)  AER is a private, nonprofit organization whose sole mission is to help Soldiers and their dependents.  AER can provide emergency financial assistance to Soldiers (active duty and retired) and their dependents when there is a valid need.  AER can assist surviving family members by arranging necessary transportation, providing low-cost loans, and offering other forms of support to Army families in need.

Army Long Term Family Case Management (ALTFCM)  The ALTFCM provides one-stop resolution assistance for families of fallen Soldiers and assists surviving family members with questions regarding benefits, outreach, advocacy, and support. The call center assists bereaved families after transitioning from the Casualty Assistance Officer.

Army Wounded Warrior Program (AW2) AW2 assists and advocates for severely wounded, ill, and injured Soldiers and their families by supporting and advising them during medical treatment, rehabilitation, and transition back into the Army or a civilian community. Marine Corps

Combat Operational Stress Control (COSC) The COSC Branch of the Personal and Family Readiness Division, Manpower and Reserve Affairs Department, HQMC, was chartered November 2005 to be a single integrating agency for all matters pertaining to combat/operational stress control in the Marine Corps. The COSC website contains information, references, links, and other resources concerning combat operational stress.

Marine Corps Casualty Assistance The HQMC Casualty Section implements, executes, and manages the Casualty Assistance Program, which includes providing assistance to Marine Corps families with compassion, dignity, and honor. The website provides benefits information, information for surviving family members, and a link to the Casualty Assistance Calls Officer (CACO) guidebook.

Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS)  The  Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is a private, nonprofit organization that  provides financial, educational, and other assistance to Sailors, Marines, eligible family members, and survivors when in need.  Services provided include emergency financial assistance, budget counseling, visiting nurses, and emergency financial assistance to qualifying Marines in the form of a low-interest loan.  NMCRS can assist surviving family members of fallen Marines and Sailors by arranging transportation, providing low-cost loans, and offering other forms of support to families in need.

Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment (WWR)  The Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment provides and facilitates assistance to wounded Marines, Sailors attached to or in support of Marine Corps units, and their families throughout the recovery process.

Navy

Navy Casualty Assistance Division The Navy Casualty Assistance Division provides family members of fallen Sailors with information and assistance during their time of need.  The website lists several links to forms and publications, as well as a downloadable survivor's guide.

Navy Safe Harbor Program The Navy Safe Harbor Program provides support and assistance to severely injured Sailors and their families during the reintegration into the active or Reserve force, or during the transition back to civilian life.

Air Force

Air Force Aid Society (AFAS)  AFAS is a private, nonprofit organization that provides emergency financial assistance to Air Force members and their families, including interest-free loans, grants, or a combination of both. AFAS maintains an open door policy that encourages individuals to apply for assistance when they feel an emergency situation exists.  For surviving spouses and dependent minor orphans, AFAS provides emergency assistance at the time of, or shortly after the death of, an Air Force member.

Air Force Personnel Center (AFPC)  The AFPC provides answers to frequently asked questions concerning casualty services, Casualty Assistance Representatives,  and death benefits, and allows users to submit additional questions to be answered.

The Air Force Wounded Warrior (AFW2) program was created in 2005 as a Department of Defense and Air Force initiative to provide personalized care to Airmen who are separated or retired as a result of illness or injury received in support of Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Coast Guard

Coast Guard Office of Military Personnel Compensation Division  The Coast Guard Compensation Division's website provides information and resources for benefits available to members of the Coast Guard. Included on the site are links to information on Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance, Survivor Benefit Plan, Federal Long Term Insurance Program, Decedent Affairs, and death gratuity.

Coast Guard Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) and Reserve Component Survivor Benefit Plan (RCSBP)  The Coast Guard website offers links to guides explaining the SBP and RCSBP for Coast Guard personnel as well as an SBP calculator.

Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA)  CGMA is a private, nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to members of the Coast Guard community during times of need.  CGMA provides persons associated with the Coast Guard, who demonstrate a financial need, with interest-free loans, personal grants, and confidential financial counseling and referral services.

CGMA provides widowed spouses (who have not remarried) and the dependent children of deceased members of the Coast Guard with financial assistance to cover costs while waiting for death gratuity or other insurance payments as well as long-term financial assistance.
