Welcome to the Tribal Management Grant (TMG) Program website!


The Fical Year 2013 TMG announcement is scheduled to be announced and awarded in FY 2013 and the exact dates are not known at this time but it will be sometime after January 1, 2013.

This site provides information regarding the TMG Program and the Fiscal Year (FY) 2011 cycle including information about procedures necessary to submit an application. The new announcement for the FY 2011 cycle is anticpated being published soon. If you have trouble locating a copy, you may contact IHS using the Contacts link or download the application information below. Please visit the Training Opportunities page for information about scheduled training sessions. The application deadline for FY 2011 cycle is August 6, 2010.

The Tribal Management Grant Program is established under the authority of 25 U.S.C. 450h(b) and 25 U.S.C. 450h(e) of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act, Public Law (P.L.) 93-638, as amended.

The purpose of the TMG Program is to assist federally-recognized Tribes and tribally-sanctioned Tribal organizations in assuming all or part of existing IHS programs, services, functions, and activities (PSFAs) through a Title I contract and to assist established Title I contractors and Title V compactors to further develop and improve their management capability.

TMGs are available to Tribes and Tribal organizations under the authority of P. L. 93-638 section 103(e) for (1) obtaining technical assistance from providers designated by the Tribe (including tribes that operate mature contracts) for the purpose of planning and evaluation, including the development of any management systems necessary for contract/compact management and the development of cost allocation plans for indirect cost rates; and (2) planning, designing, and evaluating Federal health programs serving the tribe, including Federal administrative functions.
