Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How much does the extended storage capability (Large Mailbox) service option cost?
A: Large mailboxes are charged for each allocated GB over the 1 GB standard. For current rates, see the Messaging Services section of the NIH Data Center Rates page at http://cit.nih.gov/ServiceCatalog/DataCenterRates.htm.

Q: How can I make sure my legitimate email does not end up in the spam filter?
A: CES’s Anti-Spam protection includes safelists; by adding a specific sender’s email address to a safelist, you ensure that mail from this sender is sent directly to your inbox without going through the anti-spam scanners. You can also add a specific domain name to the safelist so that all email messages with the specified domain in their sender address go directly to your email inbox. For instructions on how to add an email address to a safelist, go to the NIH CES Personal Safelist/Blocklist Management webpage.

Q: Can I block specific senders so I don’t get their messages at all?
A: Yes. To block a specific sender, add the sender’s email address to a blocklist. You can also add a domain name to a blocklist so that all email addresses containing the specified domain are blocked. Blocklists prevent all email from a specified sender from reaching your inbox. For information about using blocklists, go to the NIH CES Personal Safelist/Blocklist Management webpage.
