State Profile

New York is located on the east coast of the United States, with its state capital located in Albany. New York has 62 counties, 62 cities, 553 villages, and 932 towns spread over 54,471 square miles. New York is a world capital with the headquarters of the United Nations located in New York City. According to the 2010 Census, New York has a population of 19,378,102 residents. New York residents are predominantly Caucasian (65.7), with a significant African-American population (15.9%). Hispanics make up 17.6% of the population and Asians make up 7.3% of the population.
