TOPIC: “Elder Justice: Stronger Federal Leadership Could Enhance National Response to Elder Abuse”: GAO Report to the Chairman, Special Committee on Aging, U.S. Senate, March, 2011

In March 2011, the GAO released a report on the federal response to elder abuse. This webcast will provide an explanation of how the report came about; an overview of the methodology used; findings about elder abuse in general; findings about the challenges facing state APS Programs; the GAO’s assessment of the federal role or lack thereof in helping APS meet those challenges; and the GAO’s recommendations to the executive branch and to Congress. The results of a nationwide survey of Adult Protective Services Administrators, conducted last summer by Life Long Justice, a project of Appleseed, will also be presented by Kathleen Quinn, Executive Director, NAPSA.
