Welcome, Job Seekers, to the Commonwealth Employment Opportunities (CEO) Website!

Some agencies are accepting online applications for particular postings on this Web site. Positions in which resumes are being accepted online will include an Apply Online button in the How to Apply section of the job posting.

Applicant Instructions for the Apply Online Feature:

  • For those applicants who do not have a profile, please click on the Log In tab above to create an online profile in order to upload your resume, including your experience, skills, education and objective.

  • An Apply Online button will display on those positions for which the candidates can apply online. Be sure to keep your candidate contact information current.

  • When applying for a particular job, your stored resume will populate onto the screen, and you can make any edits as needed.

  • You will then be prompted to enter your cover letter. After submitting your resume and cover letter, you will receive an e-mail acknowledgement that your resume has been received along with the posting contents of the job you applied for.

  • The application times out after 30 minutes of inactivity. Since text entry is not registered by the system as activity, it is suggested that you create your resume and cover letter in word processing software and then cut and paste the information into the application.

Please note that for those choosing not to apply online for these positions, you will continue to have the option of mailing your resume and cover letter to the agency. These alternate mailing instructions will also be included in the How to Apply section.

We hope that you find the apply-online functionality efficient and helpful, and we welcome your comments at the Feedback link below.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Females, minorities, veterans, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. The CEO web site is updated on a daily basis as jobs become available.

Please note: Civil Service law covers some of the job openings listed. If you are appointed to a Civil Service position, you will be required to pass a competitive examination when an examination for that position is held. Qualified veterans have preference over non-veterans in filling job openings covered by Civil Service law. To verify that you meet the definition of a Massachusetts veteran for the purposes of civil service, please complete and submit to the Human Resources Division the Veteran's Application for Provisional Appointment. The Human Resources Division verification letter should accompany your cover letter, resume and/or application when applying for a provisional civil service job opening.

All state employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis and must have direct deposit.
