he Architect of the Capitol (AOC) has a requirement for Conservation and Restoration of the Brumidi Corridor paintings at the United States Capitol, Washington, District of Columbia.

Conservation and Restoration will fall into one or a combination of FULL RESTORATION, PARTIAL CONSERVATION, or REPLICATION as will be described in the Statement of Work. The wall and ceiling murals in the vaulted, ornately decorated Brumidi Corridors on the first floor of the Senate wing in the United States Capitol were painted in a variety of painting materials and techniques in the mid to late nineteenth century.

Most of the walls and ceilings were over-painted one or more times starting in the twentieth century. The conservation studies and treatment reports will be listed in solicitation and will be available for review.

The current conditions of the walls and ceilings in the Brumidi Corridors vary, so that the proportion of conservation to replication required will also vary with each area.

Contractor may be required to provide scaffolding where necessary for completion of their work.

The AOC is contemplating a 5 year contract, with separately priced line items for each phase/section of the work.

The RFP will be issued on or about August 25, 2011
