The National Center for the Dissemination of Disability Research (NCDDR) is working with grantees of the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) to encourage researchers to expand their common understanding and to jointly address issues related to research quality, standards, and guidelines. To achieve this, the NCDDR is modeling the use of Communities of Practice (CoPs) as a knowledge translation (KT) strategy. NCDDR is developing systems for applying rigorous standards of evidence in describing, assessing, and disseminating research and development outcomes.
The NCDDR produces resources in print and online to assist researchers, disability-related professionals, and people with disabilities and their families in better understanding and using disability research. These publications discuss topics such as knowledge translation, systematic reviews, evidence-based technology, communities of practice as a knowledge transfer strategy, and research quality. http://www.ncddr.org/pubs_over.html
