CDC Atlanta Visitor Center Information Guide

Visitor Entry Requirements
for All Visitors (Gate 1):

  • Display a valid, government-issued photo ID and vehicle registration/rental car agreement.  A valid driver’s license issued by any U.S. state, Territory, or Possession, or an International Driving Permit is also required for all visitors if operating a motor vehicle.
  • Non-United States citizens must present a valid passport, visa, Permanent Resident Card (I-551, aka "green card"), or other type of work authorization document. 
  • Visitors are given a temporary parking permit
  • The guard force will designate area for parking

Visitor Processing: U.S. Citizens (Visitor Center):

  • Provide name of CDC contact to guard force
  • Guard force will notify contact of visitor arrival
  • Provide a valid, government-issued photo ID to guard force for visitor badge
  • Display visitor badge above the waist and visible
  • Hand-carried items will be searched, to include X-ray
  • Individual searches will be performed with metal detection.

Visitor Processing: Non-U.S. Citizens (Visitor Center):

  • Provide name of CDC contact to guard force
  • Guard force will notify contact of visitor arrival
  • Provide a valid, government-issued photo ID to guard force for visitor badge
  • Non-United States citizens require 10 business days pre-approval for access except to the David J. Sencer CDC Museum
  • "Non-United States citizen must present a valid passport, visa, Permanent Resident Card (I-551, aka "green card"), or other type of work authorization document. 
  • Display visitor badge above the waist and visible
  • Hand-carried items will be searched, to include X-ray
  • Individual searches will be performed with metal detection.

NOTE: Federal law prohibits the knowing possession or the causing to be present of firearms or other dangerous weapons in federal facilities and federal court facilities by all persons not specifically authorized by Title 18 United States Code, Section 930(c). Violators shall be subject to fine and/or imprisonment for periods up to five (5) years.

Campus Transportation Services:

  • Shuttle service provided on an “as-needed” basis from the Visitor Center to Buildings 1E, 6 (1 Loading Dock), 20, and return to Visitor Center. Please coordinate with your CDC escort prior to arrival at the campus. Guard force notifies shuttle when visitors arrive and when they are ready to depart.

Directions to CDC′s Tom Harkin Global Communications Center

If you′re traveling on I–85 South . . .

Exit at North Druid Hills Road (Exit 89). Turn left onto North Druid Hills Road. At the third traffic light, turn right onto Briarcliff Road. At the fourth traffic light, turn left onto Clifton Road. CDC is approximately 1 mile on the right at 1600 Clifton Road. Turn right onto CDC Parkway. You will stop at the first guard station, where guards will inspect your vehicle. They will then direct you to the visitors′ parking deck. From here you will check in with the guards in the Tom Harkin Global Communications Center′s lobby. Please remember to bring a government-issued picture I.D.

If you′re traveling on I–85 North . . .

Exit at North Druid Hills Road (south) (Exit 89). Turn right onto North Druid Hills Road. At the third traffic light, turn right onto Briarcliff Road. At the fourth traffic light, turn left onto Clifton Road. CDC is approximately 1 mile on the right at 1600 Clifton Road. Turn right onto CDC Parkway. You will stop at the first guard station where guards will inspect your vehicle. They will then direct you to the visitors′ parking deck. From here you will check in with the guards in the Global Communications Center′s lobby. Please remember to bring a government-issued picture I.D.

If you're traveling on I-75 North or South . . .

Follow I–75 until it runs into I–85 North. Exit at North Druid Hills Road (south) (Exit 89). Turn right onto North Druid Hills Road. At the third traffic light, turn right onto Briarcliff Road. If you′re traveling on I-20 East . . .

Exit at Moreland Avenue (Exit 60). Turn left onto Moreland Avenue. Moreland becomes Briarcliff Road. Stay on Briarcliff for approximately 3 miles, and then turn right onto Clifton Road, just past Sage Hill Shopping Center. CDC is approximately 1 mile on the right at 1600 Clifton Road. Turn right onto CDC Parkway. You will stop at the first guard station where guardswill inspect your vehicle. They will then direct you to the visitors′ parking deck. From here you will check in with the guards in the Global Communications Center′s lobby. Please remember to bring a government-issued picture I.D.

If you're traveling on I-20 West . . .
