SECNAVINST 5510.36A along with the SECNAV M-5510.36 establishes the Department of the Navy Information Security Program (ISP) under the authority of Executive Order 13526 and in compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) Manual 5200.01, Volumes 1-4, "DoD Information Security Program," February 2012.  The ISP applies uniform, consistent, and cost-effective policies and procedures to the classification, safeguarding, transmission, and destruction of classified information.  This regulation also provides initial guidance on Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) as directed by Executive Order 13556.
