Cheltenham Maps and Directions

From Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI): Take the airport exit to 170 South (Exit 1); take 170 South to 100 East (left side entrance ramp) (3 miles); take 100 East to I-97 South (2 miles); take I-97 South toward Annapolis/Bay Bridge (6.5 miles); take the MD 32 West / MD 3 South (Exit 7) toward Bowie/Odenton (.5 miles); merge onto Crain Highway (11.5 miles); Crain Highway becomes US 301 South / Blue Star Memorial Highway (15.4 miles); take 301 South to Rosaryville Road; turn right onto Rosaryville Road to Woodyard Road (Maryland Route 223) (approximately 3 miles); turn left onto Woodyard Road to Dangerfield Road (approximately 3 miles); turn left onto Dangerfield Road to Commo Road (approximately 1 mile); turn left onto Commo Road at FLETC, Cheltenham sign; continue ¼ mile to FLETC Cheltenham Visitors Center and Main Gate Security Guard Post.

From Branch Avenue Metro Station (4704 Old Soper Road, Suitland, MD): Make right onto Auth Road towards Branch Avenue (Route 5), left onto Branch Avenue Southbound (Maryland Route 5); south on Branch Avenue for 4 miles; take Woodyard Road (Maryland Route 223) Exit; at end of exit ramp, turn left onto Woodyard Road (Northbound); travel 1 mile to intersection with Dangerfield Road; turn right onto Dangerfield Road; travel ¾ mile on Dangerfield Road; turn left onto Commo Road at FLETC, Cheltenham sign; continue ¼ mile to FLETC Cheltenham Visitors Center and Main Gate Security Guard Post. 
NOTE:  The Branch Avenue Metro Station is approximately 6 miles from the FLETC Cheltenham facility.  We do not offer shuttle bus service to/from the Metro Station, however, transportation options include taxi service or Metro car sharing, where you reserve a car for pick up upon arrival at the Metro station.

From Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA): Via Car: Head east from E Monroe Ave - go 0.4 mi; Bear right and head toward Jefferson Davis Hwy - go 0.1 mi; Continue on Jefferson Davis Hwy - go 0.1 mi; Turn right at N Henry St - go 1.6 mi; Bear right into the I-95 entry ramp to Richmond/Baltimore - go 0.1 mi; Bear right onto the I-495 E/I-95 N ramp to Baltimore - go 7.7 mi; Take the MD-5 S (Branch Avenue) Exit 7A to Waldorf - go 0.6 mi; Continue on Branch Ave - go 3.5 mi; Take the MD-223 (Woodyard Road) ramp to Clinton/Melwood - go 0.4 mi; at end of exit ramp, turn left onto MD-223 Woodyard Road (Northbound); travel 1 mile to intersection with Dangerfield Road; turn right onto Dangerfield Road; travel ¾ mile on Dangerfield Road; turn left onto Commo Road at FLETC, Cheltenham sign; continue ¼ mile to FLETC Cheltenham Visitors Center and Main Gate Security Guard Post. Via Metro: Take Yellow Line to L'Enfant Plaza transfer station; take stairs up and over to other side of platform and board Green Line to Branch Avenue Station.  See directions above from Branch Avenue Metro Station to FLETC Cheltenham facility.

From Waldorf/Southern Maryland:  Take US-301 North/Crain Highway into Waldorf to merge with MD-5 North Branch Avenue; continue on US-301 North Crain Highway/MD-5 North Branch Avenue to Brandywine; continue straight onto MD-5 North/Branch Avenue to Surratts Road; make right onto Surratts Road; make first left onto Dangerfield Road and follow to stop sign; turn right and make immediate right onto Commo Road and follow to FLETC Cheltenham Visitors Center and Main Gate Security Guard Post.

From Northern Virginia: Take I-495 East (Capital Beltway), crossing over the  Wilson Bridge/Potomac River into Maryland; take MD-5 South (Branch Avenue) Exit 7A.  Follow MD-5 South (Branch Avenue) approximately 4 miles to MD-223 (Woodyard Road) ramp; at end of exit ramp, turn left onto Woodyard Road (Northbound); travel 1 mile to intersection with Dangerfield Road; turn right onto Dangerfield Road; travel ¾ mile on Dangerfield Road; turn left onto Commo Road at FLETC, Cheltenham sign; continue ¼ mile to FLETC Cheltenham Visitors Center and Main Gate Security Guard Post.  

From Southern Virginia:  Take I-95 North to VA-207 East (Exit 104 US-301/Bowling Green); continue on VA-207 East to US-301 North, crossing over Gov. Harry W. Nice Bridge/Potomac River into Maryland; continue on US-301 North/Crain Highway to Waldorf where US-301 North/Crain Highway merges with MD-5 North/Branch Avenue in Waldorf; at Brandywine, continue straight onto MD-5 North/Branch Avenue to Surratts Road; make right onto Surratts Road; make left onto Dangerfield Road and follow to stop sign; at stop sign make right onto Commo Road and follow to FLETC Cheltenham Visitors Center and Main Gate Security Guard Post. 

From Washington, D.C.:  South Capital Street South to Suitland Parkway; east on Suitland Parkway to Branch Avenue; right turn off Suitland Parkway to Branch Avenue Southbound (Maryland Route 5); south on Branch Avenue for 4 miles; take Woodyard Road (Maryland Route 223) Exit; at end of exit ramp, turn left onto Woodyard Road (Northbound); travel 1 mile to intersection with Dangerfield Road; turn right onto Dangerfield Road; travel ¾ mile on Dangerfield Road; turn left onto Commo Road at FLETC, Cheltenham sign; continue ¼ mile to FLETC Cheltenham Visitors Center and Main Gate Security Guard Post.

From Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD):  Head West from Dulles Airport Access Road; continue on Saarinen Circle; bear right at Copilot Way and head toward Parking/Daily Garage1/Daily Garage2; turn right and head toward Aviation Drive; turn right at Aviation Drive; turn left into the Dulles Airport Access Road entry ramp; take VA-267 East Exit 12-13-14 to Reston Parkway/Wiehle Avenue/Hunter Mill Road; take I-495 Exit 18 to Baltimore/Richmond; bear right onto the I-495 South ramp to Richmond/Alexandria; continue on I-495 (Capital Beltway), crossing over the  Wilson Bridge/Potomac River into Maryland; take MD-5 South (Branch Avenue) Exit 7A.  Follow MD-5 South (Branch Avenue) approximately 4 miles to MD-223 (Woodyard Road) ramp; at end of exit ramp, turn left onto Woodyard Road (Northbound); travel 1 mile to intersection with Dangerfield Road; turn right onto Dangerfield Road; travel ¾ mile on Dangerfield Road; turn left onto Commo Road at FLETC, Cheltenham sign; continue ¼ mile to FLETC Cheltenham Visitors Center and Main Gate Security Guard Post.
