Non Emergency Vehicle Dynamics Training Program (NEVDTP)
Up one levelThe Non-Emergency Vehicle Dynamics Training Program is designed to enhance and refresh daily driving skills. The program is a one day course covering vehicle dynamics, accident avoidance and recovery and braking techniques.
A driving scenario with built in distractions(cell phone or radio calls, written driving directions, road hazards…) and interaction with abusive or interfering individuals(parolee/offender) is included.

Prerequisites for Attendance
Students must be in good health as to be physically fit for full performance of their duties, as prescribed by the parent agency. The student must also possess a valid driver's license, and have knowledge of basic vehicle dynamics.

FAQs
What clothes or equipment should I bring to the program?
Students will wear normal business attire appropriate for the climatic for that time of the year. All equipment used during the program will be furnished by the Center. There is no food service available on site. Off site dinning facilities are not convenient within the hour allotted for lunch. It is highly recommended the students bring lunch. Refrigerators and microwaves are available.

What if I need health care or emergency treatment?
For serious injuries or illnesses students are referred to Southern Maryland Hospital Center, located at 7503 Surrats Rd. & Rt.5, Clinton, Maryland 20735 301-868-8000.
How can I prepare myself before arriving at the FLETC?
Arrive early to check in with Security thru Dangerfield road (Front Gate). Names will be provided to security before your arrival however the facility identification will need to be issued. Students are required to show their own Government pictured identification/ Drivers License to be permitted onto the facility.
What climatic conditions should I expect?
Generally moderate. Varies in summer from mild to hot, and in winter from moderate in the east and south to very cold in the western mountains. Duration of the freeze-free period averages 185 days, ranging from 130 days in Garrett County to 230 days in southern Maryland and the lower Eastern Shore Temperature. Average annual temperature: 55.1 degrees Fahrenheit. High temperatures occur in July, the warmest month, averaging in the mid to upper 80s. Low temperatures in January, the coldest month, average in the low to mid 20s. Rain. Average annual rainfall: 40.76 inches. Peaks in July and August when thunderstorms average once every five days. Snow. Average seasonal snowfall: 20.6 inches. Ranges from 10 inches on the lower Eastern Shore to 110 inches in Garrett County.
