RFA on Mutant Mouse Regional
Resource Centers
National Center for Research Resources
The Mutant Mouse Regional Resource Centers (MMRRCs) will enhance
the availability of, and help to ensure the quality of, genetically
altered mice. The MMRRCs will be coordinated and linked electronically,
and will include a coordinated database characterizing the animals.
Each MMRRC will be capable of maintaining and providing animals,
cryopreserving, storing and reconstituting embryos, and of supporting
these activities with the necessary administrative and quality control
infrastructure. The National Center for Research Resources anticipates
making awards in FY 1999 for two or three MMRRCs and one Informatics
Coordinating Center for project periods of up to five years. Approximately
$3.0 million total costs is expected to be set aside for funding
these activities in the initial year.
