Hubert H Humphrey Centennial Celebration

Thursday, May 26, 2011

When the HHS headquarters building was dedicated to Hubert H. Humphrey in 1977, it marked the first time that a federal building had been dedicated to a living person. The week of May 23rd would have been the former Minnesota Senator and Vice President’s 100th birthday. To celebrate the life and legacy of the man who was instrumental in the creation of critical HHS programs such as Head Start and Medicare, HHS hosts a Centennial Celebration in the HHH building Great Hall.

The program includes remarks from Secretary Sebelius, a screening of excerpts from a documentary about Humphrey (The Art of the Possible), and a discussion with the filmmaker, Mick Caouette.
