Basic Peer Support Crisis Intervention Training Program (BPSCITP)
Up one levelThe Basic Peer Support Crisis Intervention Training Program (BPSCITP) is FLETC center advanced training program designed to teach federal law enforcement and support personnel how to accurately assess and effectively intervene with individuals and groups experiencing distress. Participants will learn the “mechanics” of stress and the various reactions that follow. Participants will also learn to mitigate the stress response and return individuals and groups to adaptive functioning.
Participants who are currently involved – or wanting to be involved – in a peer support or crisis intervention program are encouraged to attend. The course is taught by experienced mental health and law enforcement instructors. There is no prerequisite for this program.

Curriculum
- Key terms and concepts
- Identify various stress reactions
- Identify various factors that cause stress reactions
- Assessment of individuals and groups experiencing distress
- Application of individual, large group and small group interventions to lower the stress response
- Ethical principles and standards of peer and crisis intervention practice
- Planning and organizing crisis response teams
Course Requirements
- Attend and participate in all components of training
- Late arrivals and early dismissals are not permitted
- Skill performance lab exercises
- Pre-registration is required
Tuition and Cost
- Estimated tuition cost for 5-day training approximately $180.00 (excluding travel, lodging, meals, etc.)

BPSCITP is a FLETC center advanced training program and students will be housed on FLETC in available dormitories.
