Implementing Intelligence-Led Policing Training Program (IILPTP)

The Implementing Intelligence-Led Policing Training Program (IILPTP) is a day and a half program specifically for rural chief executives and command level personnel. The course examines the historical aspects of Intelligence-Led Policing (ILP) and promotes an understanding of the principles of this important law enforcement philosophy. The goal of this program is to provide students with the necessary tools to implement ILP in their respective agencies. The course closely looks at the critical elements of ILP and demonstrates how the law enforcement executive can use them to build their own program. The course focuses on the agency’s ability to use ILP to effectively manage an information sharing environment and expounds on the laws regarding privacy and civil rights.

Tuition and Cost

  • Tuition is FREE for qualified applicants. (See prerequisites below.)
  • Lodging, Meals and travel costs are the responsibility of the students and/or their agencies.

Prerequisites for Attendance

Preference for admission into this program is given to non-federal law enforcement officers or other emergency responders working in rural areas. “Rural” is defined as any area outside of a metropolitan statistical area (MSA), as defined by the Office of Management and Budget; or any jurisdiction inside of a MSA located in a county, borough, parish or land under the jurisdiction of an Indian Tribe with a population of no more than 50,000. Non-rural applicants will be admitted on a space-available basis approximately 35 days prior to the program’s start date.

Registration Information

  • The best way to register is via the on-line registration system. This system allows you to register at your convenience, change your courses, cancel out of a program, and receive electronic feedback on the status of your request.
  • Create an Account — This will allow you to apply for all training programs. It also lets you track your training once you have applied. After signing up for the account, you will receive a user name and password by email. Then, you will be ready to sign in and request a seat in training programs.
  • Training Account Login — Use this link if you already have a FLETC Training Account.  When registering on-line, qualified attendees should make sure the course they select is an “RPI” training courses in order to ensure they receive free tuition.
