Welcome to the Neuro-Oncology Branch (NOB) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). We are a team of dedicated medical professionals and scientists working to develop new therapies for patients with primary brain and spinal cord tumors. NOB is a joint program of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS).

Through our multidisciplinary Brain Tumor Clinic, located at the NIH Clinical Center, we offer a unique set of resources to patients:

  • Access to new therapies and procedures that are often not available elsewhere
  • Use of state-of-the-art neurosurgery and radiation therapy, based on the genetic characteristics of individual patient tumors
  • Expert evaluation, examinations, tests and state-of-the-art imaging (MRI and PET scans) to monitor patients during and after treatment
  • Our clinical staff will work with your home physician to form an expert care team
  • If you have consultations or treatments at the NIH Clinical Center, most of your costs will be covered. This includes evaluations, medical services, transportation for the patient and one caregiver, and a portion of meals and lodging
