The United Nations has recognized the epidemic of bullying that is gripping our schools and had dedicated May 4th as U.N. Anti-Bullying Day. I’m sure you see bullying taking place in school and outside of school. We have to stop the bullying. We want to stand up f or those that are different and take a step to get rid of intolerance. Because of the need to fight hatred on a global scale, my colleague Farah Pandith, the Special Representative to Muslim Communities, and I have joined together to launch the Hours Against Hate Campaign. We started it because the young people we met around the world wanted to know what they could do to fight hatred.
So please volunteer an hour or more of you time to walk in the shoes of someone else, someone that doesn’t look like you or pray like you or live like you. It’s up to you to build a more tolerant future. Don’t be a passive bystander and contribute to the problem of bullying, be part of the solution! Join the 2011 Hours Against Hate Campaign. You can find it on Facebook and on Twitter. Tell your friends.
