What are the Reasons?
Overview
Starting with the Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park quarter, the students will visit the park's website and the El Yunque National Forest website to understand the threats to the plant and animal species at these national sites. The students will analyze the relationships between ecosystems and human activity and the factors that affect species survival. The class will compare the reasons for protected status and design a poster to inform and warn people.
