School Administrators
As a school administrator, you have the ability to help make the school meal changes a positive and exciting experience for everyone. Let everyone know that healthier food choices and physical activity are important to you and the whole school. Talk it up at staff meetings, Back to School Night, or the next parent’s association meeting. Encourage teachers, staff, students and parents to participate in the school wellness council and share best practices.
Let the local wellness policy guide you. It is an important tool for parents, local education agencies and school districts in promoting student wellness, preventing and reducing childhood obesity, and providing assurance that school meal nutrition guidelines meet the minimum federal school meal standards.
