The handbook is an evidence-based tool that includes action guides that provide public health practitioners interested in health promotion with the necessary “how to” guidance to implement effective community-level strategies.

Health and Sustainability Guidelines for Federal Concessions and Vending Operations

With support from CDC, HHS and GSA collaborated to create the Health and Sustainability Guidelines for Federal Concessions and Vending Operations, which were released in March 2011. By applying the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans to food service operations, these Guidelines demonstrate HHS’ and GSA’s commitment to promoting a healthy workforce. The website includes a link to the Guidelines, CDC resources for state and local governments and other entities who wish to adopt similar procurement policies, and statements from public health partners in support of the guidelines.
