State and Local Law Enforcement Training Symposium (SLLETS)

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) is conducting a State and Local Law Enforcement Training Symposium (SLLETS). This 4½ day training symposium offers multiple training tracks and attendees will be required to sign up for their preferred topic. All training programs will be conducted at the FLETC’s Glynco (Brunswick), GA facility and will be taught by highly qualified staff instructors.

Curriculum

In addition to the five, 3-day training tracks listed below, additional training will be provided on Monday (9/24/12) and until noon on Friday (9/28/12).

TRAINING TRACKS: (You are only allowed to choose one (1) track of training)

  • *TRACK 1:  Arrest Techniques/Defensive Tactics

Training Topics include: threat assessment, restraining suspects, searching suspects, close quarters, takedowns, ground defense, edge weapons and intermediate weapons.

  • TRACK 2: Active Shooter Training Program

Training Topics include: active threat analysis, tactical concepts, response tactics, single/multiple officer response and movements.

  • TRACK 3:  Advanced Interviewing for Law Enforcement Officers

Training Topics include:  cognitive interview, handling denials, interviewing for law enforcement officers; McGuire Interview Lab, advance evidence, theme presentation , case studies and suspect interview lab.

  • *TRACK 4:  Survival Shooting Training Program

Training Topics include:  firearms safety, survival shooting techniques/drills, shoulder mounted weapons and instructor techniques.

  • *TRACK 5:  Operating Emergency Vehicles

Training Topics include: distracted driving, high risk vehicle stops, vehicle handling skills, pursuit driving, high gravity vehicles, non-emergency vehicle operations and skid control.

 

*Participants who select these programs will be required to have a medical screening prior to the start of class. The screening will be performed by medical staff at the FLETC on the day following your arrival.  For the firearms course, your acceptance/confirmation letter will provide additional information (i.e., duty weapons check-in process, etc.)

Tuition and Cost

There will be NO COST for tuition, meals and lodging for qualified participants who work more than 50 miles from the training site in Glynco (Brunswick), GA. Attendees are responsible for all travel costs. Transportation from the airport in Brunswick, GA (BQK) and Jacksonville, FL (JAX) to/from the FLETC will be provided at no cost.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -- Call 800-743-5382 and reference “Glynco SLLETS” or ask for extension 2367 to find out if space is still available in the training track you would like to attend and receive additional important information prior to making your travel arrangements to attend.  Required arrival date is Sunday, September 23 and flights for departure must be scheduled no earlier than 3:30 p.m. on September 28.
