Where is the FLETC / Glynco?

The FLETC is located 6 miles north of Brunswick, GA, between Savannah, GA and Jacksonville, FL . The names "FLETC," "The Center," and "Glynco" are interchangeable; however, these are not on a map--locate Brunswick on the southeastern coast of Georgia. U.S. Highway 17, a north/south route from Maine to Florida, and Interstate 95. Exit 38 on I-95 directs you to the facility; highway signs are to be observed closely when approaching the Center. Students' automobiles will be registered upon arrival at the Center. Therefore, it is required that students have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.

Is money available to reduce the cost of advanced training programs conducted at FLETC facilities?

The program cost (excluding meals and lodging) of some classes is partially subsidized by the FLETC. The subsidy is calculated based on the number of students attending the program. Cost reductions will automatically be applied when billing your agency.

How do I register for advanced training programs conducted at FLETC facilities?

The best way to register is via the on-line registration system. This system allows you to register at your convenience, change your courses, cancel out of a program, and receive electronic feedback on the status of your request. If you do not see your program and/or dates listed in the on-line system, then seats are not available in that desired program. If you want to be placed on a waiting list, you should register by printing and completing the paper registration request form (link below), and faxing the form to (912) 267-2894. You will be placed on a waiting list and notified via email if and when a seat becomes available. To expedite your application, ensure your email, fax, and phone numbers are correct.

What is included in the cost of the program?

Program costs include tuition, lodging, and meals. The costs associated with advanced programs vary depending on the individual program. Lodging costs may vary based on where students are housed. Cost is estimated at the highest rate; therefore, your final cost may be lower. In courses that last more than a week, the middle weekend meal and lodging costs are included. Please do not remit payment in advance. Your agency will be billed upon program completion for any program costs.

How do I get transportation to the Center/FLETC bus?

Refer to the travel page within the Glynco Student Information Bulletin.

When will my agency be billed?

You/your agency will be billed 30-45 days after the program ends.

I need to cancel...what should I do?

If for any reason a participant can not attend the program, it is the Center’s policy that we be notified in writing twenty (20) working days prior to the beginning of class.

Cancellations received less than 20 working days before the start date of the training may result in program costs, in full or partial, being billed regardless of attendance.

Notify Jim Carter at jim.carter@dhs.gov or 800-743-5382, ext 4550.

What forms of payment does FLETC accept?

You can remit payment by the following means: Purchase Order, Cash, Cashiers Check, Travelers Check, Money Order or Credit Card: MasterCard, VISA, American Express, Discover or Diners Club.

Can I make my own lodging arrangements?

With extremely rare exception, all lodging arrangements are made by the Training Resources Coordination Division (TRC). Location of the assigned housing is NOT released prior to the students arrival due to security/safety purposes.  The student will be notified at check-in.

Are there prerequisites?

Some programs have prerequisites that must be addressed prior to attendance. Refer to the individual training program you are interested in for specific prerequisite information.

How will I be confirmed for a program?

You will receive a confirmation notice via email or fax as soon as the program is confirmed. Typically, programs are confirmed 30 days prior to the start date. However, programs may cancel as late as two weeks prior to program start date if a minimum number of students are not registered. Registering on-line is the fastest way to receive confirmation.

Can I attend a FLETC Advanced program if I am not law enforcement?

The FLETC is authorized to train private sector security officials on a space-available basis with reimbursement of actual costs to the FLETC’s appropriation. Private sector agencies requesting such training must have the endorsement of a law enforcement agency stating that the applicant’s training would be mutually beneficial to the agency and the applicant.
