Student Recreation Program

While assigned at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), students may participate in organized events and activities designed to complement the training experience. Monthly, the Student Recreation Program coordinates a schedule encompassing a broad range of organized recreational activities. The scope of the program includes trips to professional and minor league sporting events, concerts, golf outings, horseback trail rides, various cultural, environmental and historical tours, intramural sports and organized runs. Available facilities on-Center include tennis, racquetball, indoor/outdoor basketball, sand volleyball courts, a softball field, certified jogging trails, indoor and outdoor swimming pools as well as exercise and weight rooms. A wide variety of recreational aerobics are offered, including cycling, yoga, aerobic strength, and cardio training. Swimming instruction is available for all levels including the beginner interested in learning to swim to the advanced wishing to enhance their technique.

The geographical location of the FLETC, Glynco area lends itself to outdoor activity interests. The surrounding area is considered prime golfing: Jekyll Island, Sea Island, and Saint Simons Island are just a short drive and all offer championship quality golf courses. For the adventurous, you can sign out canoes, kayaks, and associated equipment on a temporary basis through the Student Recreation Office; advance reservations are required. There are a variety of waterways, parks, and pristine nature areas within close proximity. The Student Recreation Office also coordinates a variety of guided excursions of the cultural, environmental and historical sites in the region.

The Student Recreation Program coordinates shuttle transportation to various local and regional sites including, local malls and shopping areas in Brunswick, St. Simons Island Pier, the Prime Outlet Mall in Darien, and Savannah. These recreation activities are offered for all assigned personnel. All FLETC students and staff are invited and encouraged to participate.
