Follow Directions - How To Use Methadone Safely

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration's (SAMHSA) Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) launched this collaborative public awareness campaign to deliver the message to consumers that methadone is a safe and effective treatment for opioid addiction and pain management when taken as directed. The campaign will educate consumers, healthcare professionals and clinics about how methadone's complex pharmacology can have life-threatening interactions when taken with other medications or not as prescribed.
