AROCC was founded in 1971 by parents who had children who were being treated for cancer or who had lost their lives to this number one disease killer of our kids.The association was chartered by New York State in that year as a not-for-profit corporation (New York Exemption Number "EX147731") ( Federal ID number "23-7204637") whose primary purpose was to fund the major pediatric research centers in Western New York and other pediatric oncological centers in the country.

Mission Statement The Association for Research of Childhood Cancer, Inc. raises funds to support basic science research and clinical investigation which have breakthrough potential for a cure for childhood cancer: the No. 1 disease killer of children. AROCC is a voluntary, not-for-profit, organization founded by parents who lost children to various pediatric cancers. Since 1971 the Association has provided more than 2.5 million dollars to the major pediatric research centers of Western New York. AROCC volunteers include parents of childhood cancer survivors, medical professionals, community and business leaders and many others who contribute their time, talent and efforts in the fight against childhood cancer, so that one day...today's children will have a tomorrow and tomorrow's children will have a future.
